The term has been filled with learning, assessments, sporting events, and cultural festivals, to name just a few highlights. I know everyone is looking forward to a well-deserved break before we return refreshed for Term 3. - [Term Two Week 10](https://www.hastingsgirls.com/news/2026/term-two-week-10/): Over the coming weeks, I will be meeting with our Year 8 students who will become our Year 9 cohort in 2027. As part of my preparation, I’ve been spending time around the school at lunchtimes, asking many of you what you think I should be sharing with them. One comment really stood out. A student said “At Hastings Girls’ High School, there is something for everyone.” This powerful statement has inspired this week’s Pānui. - [Term Two Week 9](https://www.hastingsgirls.com/news/2026/term-two-week-9/): This week we celebrate Schools’ Pride Week Aotearoa, an annual event that acknowledges and uplifts our rainbow students, staff and whānau across the motu. The kaupapa, “Celebrating Pride in Every School,” aligns beautifully with who we are at Hastings Girls’, a community that embraces difference, values diversity, and ensures every student feels a strong sense of belonging. Our intention is simple and unwavering: every girl should feel included, supported and valued for who she is and where she comes from. Ngā mihi nui to the staff and students who have helped bring this week’s events to life, including the Friday mufti day. - [Term Two Week 8](https://www.hastingsgirls.com/news/2026/term-two-week-8/): The highlight of every day for me is the time I get to spend connecting with our girls whether it’s during my lunchtime walk around the school or greeting students at the front gate after the bell. I love hearing what’s going well for them, what they’re proud of, and what they think we can do even better. Their openness, friendliness, and respectful conversations remind me just how deeply our school values shape who we are: our behaviour, our culture, and ultimately the outcomes we strive for. - [Term Two Week 7](https://www.hastingsgirls.com/news/2026/term-two-week-7/): Talofa lava - [Term Two Week 6](https://www.hastingsgirls.com/news/2026/term-two-week-6/): Tēnā koutou katoa - [Term Two Week 5](https://www.hastingsgirls.com/news/2026/term-two-week-5/): It has been a busy and productive week as we move steadily toward the middle of the term. For many of our senior students, and for our Year 10 cohort, the focus has been on the Literacy and Numeracy examinations that form a crucial part of their NCEA journey. I have emphasised many times just how significant these assessments are. Without achieving these core standards, students cannot receive their Level 1, 2, or 3 certificates. These exams are truly the gateway to our senior school. - [Term Two Week 4](https://www.hastingsgirls.com/news/2026/term-two-week-4/): Maurēē, Malo e lelei, Bula vinaka, Talofa lava, Mālō ni, Namaste, Kumusta, Talofa - [Term Two Week 3](https://www.hastingsgirls.com/news/2026/term-two-week-3/): On ANZAC Day, 25 April, some of our school leaders, senior leadership team, and their families gathered at the cenotaph in Hastings at 5:30am for the Dawn Service. Our Amorangi, Maieke, and Head Girl, Mennat, laid a wreath alongside representatives from other schools across the district. - [Term Two Week 2](https://www.hastingsgirls.com/news/2026/term-two-week-2/): Tēnā koutou katoa - [Term Two Week 1](https://www.hastingsgirls.com/news/2026/term-two-week-1/): Welcome back to Term 2. We hope you have all had a restful break and are feeling refreshed for what will be a long but important 11-week term. - [Term One Week 9](https://www.hastingsgirls.com/news/2026/term-one-week-9/): As we come to the end of a short but vibrant nine‑week term, I want to acknowledge the many events, sports, celebrations, and learning opportunities that have filled our kura with energy. The true highlight for me has been getting to know our girls and our staff. Our values of manaakitanga and whakawhanaungatanga are clearly alive in our school — I see them every day as I move through classrooms and shared spaces. Thank you for the warmth you have shown not only to me, but also to our new staff and students. Your kindness shapes the culture of our kura. - [Term One Week 8](https://www.hastingsgirls.com/news/2026/term-one-week-8/): This week we gathered to honour a remarkable milestone—70 years of Hastings Girls’ High School. Our story is one of strength, identity, and deep connection, not only to our community but also to our brother school, Hastings Boys’ High School. - [Term One Week 7](https://www.hastingsgirls.com/news/2026/term-one-week-7/): Last week we held our parent–teacher interviews for senior students and it was wonderful to see such a strong turnout. The conversations around each student’s learning, progress, and next steps were incredibly valuable. Many parents shared that they would like a deeper understanding of NCEA, certificate and course endorsements, and the importance of the Literacy and Numeracy co-requisites. - [Term One Week 6](https://www.hastingsgirls.com/news/2026/term-one-week-6/): What an incredible Athletics Day we had. Thank you to everyone for bringing such energy, fun, and laughter to the event. It was wonderful to see students supporting one another, celebrating each other’s successes, and showing true House spirit. A special congratulations to Gold House, who took out first place in the House competition. Two standout moments from the day were the fiercely contested Haka Competition and the vibrant Holi Run, which closed the event in a burst of colour and celebration of diversity, unity and joy. A huge thank you goes to our Sports Coordinators, Finn and Fale, our dedicated teaching staff, and our hardworking, grounds, admin and kitchen teams. Your combined efforts created a day that truly reflected the strength of our school community. - [Term One Week 5](https://www.hastingsgirls.com/news/2026/term-one-week-5/): As we move into the middle of the term, it’s wonderful to see everyone well and truly back into the rhythm of school life and learning. - [Term One Week 4](https://www.hastingsgirls.com/news/2026/term-one-week-4/): Tēnā koutou katoa - [Term One Week 3](https://www.hastingsgirls.com/news/2026/term-one-week-3/): I have been reminded this week of how important our uniform and a positive attitude are in setting the tone and culture of our school. - [Term One Week 2](https://www.hastingsgirls.com/news/2026/term-one-week-2/): Tēnā koutou katoa - [Term One Week 1](https://www.hastingsgirls.com/news/2026/term-one-week-1/): This week has been full of exciting firsts for both our new staff and our new students. Our pōwhiri on Monday welcomed our Year 9 cohort and new staff, marking the beginning of their journey at Hastings Girls’ High School. For many, the day was filled with questions about school lunches, friendships, and what to expect. It was wonderful to see all our Year 9 students listening respectfully and presenting themselves so well. Early feedback from staff is that they are a delightful group who are settling in beautifully. - [Term One](https://www.hastingsgirls.com/news/2026/term-one/): Dear HGHS Whānau - [Term Four Week 9](https://www.hastingsgirls.com/news/2025/term-four-week-9/): Kia ora e te whānau - [Term Four Week 8](https://www.hastingsgirls.com/news/2025/term-four-week-8/): Kia ora e te whānau - [Term Four Week 7](https://www.hastingsgirls.com/news/2025/term-four-week-7/): Kia ora e te whānau - [Term Four Week 6](https://www.hastingsgirls.com/news/2025/term-four-week-6/): Kia ora koutou - [Term Four Week 5](https://www.hastingsgirls.com/news/2025/term-four-week-5/): Kia ora e te whānau o Ngā Rau Huia o Ākina, ## Pages - [Open Evening](https://www.hastingsgirls.com/open-evening/) - [Waka Ama](https://www.hastingsgirls.com/sport/waka-ama/) - [Volleyball](https://www.hastingsgirls.com/sport/volleyball/) - [Touch Rugby](https://www.hastingsgirls.com/sport/touch-rugby/) - [Rugby](https://www.hastingsgirls.com/sport/rugby/) - [Netball](https://www.hastingsgirls.com/sport/netball/) - [Kī o Rahi](https://www.hastingsgirls.com/sport/ki-o-rahi/) - [Hockey](https://www.hastingsgirls.com/sport/hockey/) - [Football](https://www.hastingsgirls.com/sport/football/) - [Badminton](https://www.hastingsgirls.com/sport/badminton/) - [Basketball](https://www.hastingsgirls.com/sport/basketball/) - [Book Your School Tour](https://www.hastingsgirls.com/school-tour/) - [Sports Concussion Incident Report Form](https://www.hastingsgirls.com/sport/sports-concussion-incident-report-form/) - [School Photos](https://www.hastingsgirls.com/school-photos/) - [Account](https://www.hastingsgirls.com/account/) - [Shop](https://www.hastingsgirls.com/shop/): No results found - [Receipt](https://www.hastingsgirls.com/receipt/) - [Cart](https://www.hastingsgirls.com/cart/) - [Checkout](https://www.hastingsgirls.com/checkout/) - [Work With Us](https://www.hastingsgirls.com/work-with-us/) - [International Students](https://www.hastingsgirls.com/international-students/) - [School Magazine](https://www.hastingsgirls.com/school-magazine/) - [School Calendar](https://www.hastingsgirls.com/school-calendar/) - [Term Dates](https://www.hastingsgirls.com/term-dates/) - [Voices of Our Community](https://www.hastingsgirls.com/voices-of-our-community/) - [Return To School Info](https://www.hastingsgirls.com/return-to-school-info/) - [Tutoring](https://www.hastingsgirls.com/student-info/tutoring/) - [Student Information](https://www.hastingsgirls.com/student-info/) - [Sport](https://www.hastingsgirls.com/sport/) - [Senior Curriculum](https://www.hastingsgirls.com/curriculum/senior-curriculum/) - [Year 10 Electives](https://www.hastingsgirls.com/curriculum/junior-curriculum/electives-year-10/) - [Year 9 Electives](https://www.hastingsgirls.com/curriculum/junior-curriculum/electives-year-9/) - [Junior Curriculum](https://www.hastingsgirls.com/curriculum/junior-curriculum/) - [Curriculum](https://www.hastingsgirls.com/curriculum/) - [School Board](https://www.hastingsgirls.com/hghs-bot/) - [School Lunches](https://www.hastingsgirls.com/school-lunches/) - [Meet Our New Principal](https://www.hastingsgirls.com/meet-our-new-principal/) - [Enrolment](https://www.hastingsgirls.com/enrolment/) - [Staff Directory](https://www.hastingsgirls.com/staff-directory/) - [News](https://www.hastingsgirls.com/news/) - [Portals](https://www.hastingsgirls.com/portals/) - [Quicklinks](https://www.hastingsgirls.com/quicklinks/) - [Home](https://www.hastingsgirls.com/) - [Contact](https://www.hastingsgirls.com/contact/) - [About Us](https://www.hastingsgirls.com/about-us/)
