Chris Lee
Head of Department - Visual Arts
Meet Chris Lee, our Head of Visual Art. He came from South Korea to Christchurch as a teenager and studied Fine Arts and Teaching at the University of Canterbury before moving to Hawke’s Bay where he has been teaching Visual Arts for the past decade. He came to Hastings Girls’ last year from Central Hawke’s Bay College where he also headed up their Visual Arts Department.
Creativity and pedagogy are important in his whanau, and his home is filled with music as well as art. His wife is a pianist who also teaches. Together they share a love of food and movies, tramping and travel.
Inspired by his own high school art teacher, he strives to provide similar inspiration for our girls to both enjoy their art and fulfil their potential to find careers in the creative industries or to use their creativity in diverse fields.
