Hub Trip
On Wednesday our Design and Innovation and Visual Arts Hub spent the day exploring art and design with the Hastings City Gallery. We visited the Design Kahungunu Exhibition and used this as inspiration for our own sculptural pieces. We also took a walk to look at some of the public art on display around the Hastings City Centre. Two of our Design and Innovation students noticed some graffiti on one of the sculptures and took the initiative and time to clean it off.
Grapple 23
During the first week of the school holidays, two of our Year 13 students Jaspreet and Frances participated in Grapple23 - a design and technology competition, in Christchurch. All participants received full scholarships to attend this event. Jaspreet, Frances and their team had to identify a need, opportunity or problem facing inhabitants of Mars and design an innovative solution to this issue. At the end of the week all teams presented their work to the judges. The hard work, imaginations and technical skills of Frances, Jaspreet and the rest of their team saw them win the competition.
