Term Three Week 2

Early Finish Monday 31 August

In preparation for Open Evening being held on Monday 31 July the school day will end at 2.30pm to allow those involved to set up.

The Flaxmere bus will be here at 2.30pm; all other buses will leave at normal times.

Be Aware

We have had a couple of situations where students have been followed by someone in a car. We ask that students walk to and from school in pairs and should they be approached, from a safe distance they photograph the car or record the number plate. Please contact the police if this happens to your student. We want our students to be safe just as you do.

Bus Bay Reminder

Please do NOT drive into the school grounds or park in the Bus Bay when picking up or dropping off students.

Former HGHS student Pahlyss Hokianga Represents NZ U16 Girls Basketball Team in Jordan

We would like to acknowledge former HGHS student Pahlyss Hokianga and her U16 New Zealand Women’s team that have beaten Chinese Taipei 66-63 in a thrilling encounter claiming Bronze at the FIBA U16 Women’s Asian Championship in Jordan on Sunday 16 July.

Pahlyss had a 10 point, 9 rebound and 6 assist stat-line.

Not only do New Zealand come away from the Asia Champs with a medal for the first time ever but also, with a top four finish, have booked themselves a place at the 2024 FIBA U17 Women’s World Cup in Mexico.

Well done Pahlyss and her NZ Team on their amazing Tournament.

Waka Ama Regatta

Early start for the Matariki Waka Ama Regatta on Mokotuararo last Saturday. Mixed girls supported by some Heretaunga Waka Ama - roopu members. It was a cold wet muddy day but great to have these novices giving it a go. Proud of one of the Year 10 students, Mennat from HGHS, for taking part and stepping up as a leader in the waka. Whaea Rose will be calling out for paddlers later this term so please keep an eye on the notices.
