Term Three Week 3
Principal's Message
This week at Hastings Girls’ High School – Ngā Rau Huia o Ākina has been one filled with pride, connection, and celebration.
On Tuesday evening, we welcomed prospective students and their whānau into our kura for Open Evening. It was a fabulous night, with our staff and students proudly showcasing all that makes our school special. It was particularly heartening to see many of our current students reconnecting with their old schools and familiar faces — a lovely reminder of the strong community ties that exist throughout Heretaunga. Thank you to everyone who helped make the evening such a welcoming and inspiring experience. We look forward to officially welcoming our new ākonga in 2026.
This week also saw our Level 3 PE class travel to Taupō for their Outdoor Education Camp. Despite the wet weather, our students embraced the challenge, taking part in a range of activities designed to test their resilience, leadership, and teamwork. A sincere thank you to the staff who supported this trip and made it possible — opportunities like these help shape confident, capable young women ready to take on the world.
Today’s House Concert was a vibrant celebration of student voice and creativity. The Hall was filled with energy, colour, and talent as each House took to the stage with performances that reflected hours of planning, collaboration, and practice. There was laughter, applause, and a deep sense of school spirit as students performed with pride and confidence. Well done to everyone involved — your mana shone through.
Senior reports were released today. These reports include not only feedback from teachers but also reflective comments written by the students themselves. It is heartening to see how thoughtfully our seniors are engaging with their learning journey, identifying their progress and setting clear goals. The next step will be an invitation for whānau to meet with kaiako and ākonga to reflect on the year so far and plan ahead for success. These conversations are invaluable in ensuring we are all working together to support the aspirations of our young women.
Ngā mihi nui to everyone for their continued support and aroha.

Business Brilliance on Display!
In the first week of the term, our Senior Business Studies students were showcasing their hard work and entrepreneurial thinking in the school hall!
Year 11 students presented the first part of their NCEA assessment, focused on understanding and applying key economic concepts such as price determination. They researched costs, explored customer demand, and tested pricing strategies through practical business ideas.
Meanwhile, our Year 12 and 13 students took it a step further — presenting products and concepts that demonstrated their ability to innovate, improve, and embed sustainability into their business planning. From product development to ethical practices, these students are exploring what it takes to succeed in the modern business world.
Thank you to students and staff who came and supported their efforts, and be inspired by the next generation of creative thinkers and future business leaders
