Gisborne Girls & Hastings Girls Sports Exchange

Thank you to Gisborne Girls High School for travelling to Hastings Girls High School yesterday for the annual Sports Exchange for the Barclay trophy. The Barclay trophy was donated by the HGHS Sports Captain of 2019, Holly Barclay. It was her idea to start this sports exchange and it was awesome to see the two schools battle it out on the sports fields & court.

Each year both schools pick 3 sports to play against each other. This year it was Ki o rahi, Rippa & Volleyball. The school that wins at least 2 of the 3 sports, overall wins the Barclay trophy. Here's the results from the sports exchange:

Ki o rahi: Gisborne Girls won 9 - 5
Rippa: Gisborne Girls won 9 - 8
Volleyball: Hastings Girls won 2 - 0 sets
Overall 2020 winner: Gisborne Girls High School

Congratulations to:

  • Maryanne (GGHS) player of the day for Ki o rahi
  • Charny (HGHS) player of the day for Rippa
  • Robyn (HGHS) player of the day for Volleyball

Special thank you to:

  • Jannali for her immense contribution behind the scene (reffing rippa, ki o rahi, setup, & being Mr T's 2iC
  • Virginia for assisting with setup & helping Mr T
