House Poster Challenge

Gain house points, by creating a poster promoting positive mental health awareness.  Find your favourite quote or saying that promotes mental health and create a poster that catches peoples attention. Posters can be handed in or sent digitally. Once you've made your poster email it to maaahn@hastingsgirls.com, along with your name, year level and house. Entries open between 7 - 27 March. The top 3 junior and senior entries will gain extra house points. If students have any questions feel free to contact Ahnaliyah.

Inter House Volley Ball Competition

A huge CONGRATULATIONS to Blue House for winning our first house challenge of the year!  Watch this space for more Inter House competitions - valuable house points are up for grabs!

Shortened Days for remainder of Term One

As the number of COVID cases across the school community continues to grow, the decision was made to shorten the length of the school day. This will provide extra planning and preparation time for staff working with students whilst they are isolating at home.  The school day now ends at 2.30pm.  The Flaxmere bus will leave at 2.35pm, the Havelock North bus will leave at 2.45pm, and the Waipāwa bus will leave at 2.55pm.  If you have any questions about the buses please contact ge@hastingsgirls.com

Office Hours

In line with our shortened school day, our school office will now be closing each day at 3.30pm.

HGHS Ki o Rahi draw will be confirmed by Wednesday from the organizers

Sport Sector Update: Covid-19

Please see the most recent update below from Sport NZ. Of note, there is an update on the mandate changes under the school sport setting. The important information to note is that as of Saturday 12 March 2022, all children and young people, regardless of their vaccination status, can participate in school-organised teams and groups, or as an individual representing the school in a competition or event. Netball Coach Development Opportunities

Are you considering becoming a netball coach or polishing up on your netball coaching skills for HGHS netball? Hawkes Bay Netball are hosting a range of Coach Development Opportunities over the next few weeks leading into our season start. Sport NZ will be hosting a webinar as part of the #itsmymove campaign. This webinar is relevant for parents, coaches, managers and teachers.

Learn how if girls feel empowered to lead the activity or set the expectations themselves, they will gain more confidence.

Secondary Schools Lawn Bowls

Are you interested in playing lawn bowls? Kia Toa Bowling Club are holding weekly lawn bowl sessions starting on Monday 21 March at 4pm, at the Kia Toa Bowling Club, 425 St Aubyn St, Hastings. 

This is open to any student who would like to try bowls no matter what their experience. Coaches will be available to help anyone, from absolute beginners to those already playing. No commitment and no cost. All equipment will be supplied.
