Upcoming Whānau Hui

Please remember that all junior and senior students and their whānau are invited to meet with senior subject teachers and junior hub teachers on the following dates:
Thursday 30 June - Senior Subject Teachers [progress reports issued on 23 June]
Thursday 7 July - Junior Hub Teachers [progress reports issued on 1 July]
On both days school will end at 12.20 and hui can be booked with teachers/hub lead teachers between 2 pm and 6 pm.
Please be sure to access next week's Pānui for further details and booking arrangements.

Matariki Celebrations

At HGHS we are celebrating Matariki with a week full of events and activities, starting with a special assembly on Monday to unveil our Korowai commissioned by our newly established Māori Council (Te Huia Kaimanawa).  Throughout the rest of the week we will be holding Matariki craft workshops, making whetu & putiputi with Harakeke / Poi making, we will screen a Kiriata/video 'Matariki Te Whetū o Te Tau (Dr Rangi Matamua)'; Te Whai & Te Ao Haka Hubs are visiting Gracelands to sing Waiata/Whakangahau; there will be a native tree planting ceremony; a Hautapu Noho, where Te Whai, Te Ao Haka and Kaitiaki Hubs plus a Leadership group will stay overnight for Hautapu celebration and Hāngi preparation; the week will end with a Hāngi and Kemu Māori / Māori Games on the field led by our ‘Te Huia Kaimanawa’ rōpū.

FREE Learn to Umpire Netball Course

Do you want to learn how to umpire in Netball? This one-off course is open to students, staff, volunteers or anyone who wants to become an umpire for HGHS. Hawke's Bay Netball are providing an Umpire Development opportunity here at HGHS that anyone can attend. This is a great way to give back to HGHS Netball as we often need more umpires on Saturday mornings.
