Jesse Gabel

Meet Jesse Gabel from our science department at Hastings Girls’. He’s come to us all the way from the towns and countryside of Canada.

Motivated by a desire to use his unique people skills to make a difference in the world, he turned to teaching. He studied in North Bay, in remote northern Ontario, where he developed an appreciation for the indigenous culture native to that region. 

Drawn by our oceans and mountains, Jesse responded to New Zealand’s call for science teachers and found himself at Hastings Girls’. Embracing the concept of ako, Jesse teaches because he loves to learn, whether it be a new musical instrument or picking up Te Reo from students and staff.
