Kāhui - supporting our Ākonga
Each week, our senior students are setting individual learning goals for their subjects. Mapping out specific actions they will need to take in order to achieve their goal for the week, provides greater clarity in their learning . Teachers in Kāhui will be supporting students as they shape their action plans and review them at the end of the week. You may like to discuss your students learning plan with them, as a further means of support.
Senior Student / Teacher Catch-ups
Senior students, you are encouraged to contact your teachers to set up a hui outside if you need to. Your teachers are just an email away so please do not wait to be contacted by them if you feel that you need help.
Tuakana/Teina Mentoring
If anyone needs extra help academically we have a system called Tuakana Teina set up to help anyone succeed. There are students in each hub that can help tutor you.
Email varmac@hastingsgirls.com and Mackenzie (your Academic Captain) will arrange for a Tuakana to help you!
Zone Change
Please note that from Monday 21 Feb, HDESI will become part of ZONE 1 (Blue) - there is no room change, though.
Covid Management steps for whānau
As part of our COVID-19 response plan, we have created an easy to follow diagram, which outlines our step by step process for monitoring and tracking cases.
This information is based upon the Red Light, Phase two plan and requirements set out by the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Health.
Our current hybrid teaching model ensures, should a student be isolating, they can continue with their learning from home.

Netball Senior A & Senior B Trials
Just a friendly reminder that our HGHS Netball Senior A and Senior B trials will be held on Monday 21st February in preparation for our Netball 2022 season. Please turn up ready to go in your gear. Sports - Touch trials
Touch trials are open for anyone who wants to play. Please be in your gear ready to go. Touch trial details below:
What: Touch trials
When: Tuesday 22nd February
Time: 3.30pm - 4.30pm
Where: HGHS field
Note: if you're a student who is new to touch, we recommend you come along too. Competition games will start from Thursday 24th February after school at Sports Park so this is the only trial we will hold before the competition. All students involved must be vaccinated to participate. No spectators allowed. All students must also complete the consent form below as soon as possible:
Learn to Umpire Netball Workshop
Do you want to learn how to umpire in Netball? Hawkes Bay Netball are providing an Umpire Development opportunity that anyone can sign up to. This is a great way to give back to our netball community, especially on game days when our HGHS netball teams are in need of umpires for Saturday morning games.
